Gateron Translucent Whites, or Gateron Clears, are linear switches with an exceptionally light spring. Even Cherry MX Red switches are heavier.
Low spring resistance and loosely fitted sliders exacerbate the stem wobble that exists in other Gateron products. Gateron Translucent Whites are, however, at least as smooth as retooled Cherry switches. Off center keypresses add some friction, but that is the case with all traditional designs.
Some contact and slider rasp is audible during slow keypresses, and exceptionally fast or hard typing can induce spring noise. Gateron Clears have a slightly more metallic (pingy) noise profile than their Cherry relatives.
